The lyrical drama of Ivan Franko about love, in which love rises to the highest pedestal. A drama about life and what was lost, about the losses suffered from the egoism of love… After deep and painful experiences within the relationship of a couple in love comes forgiveness.

The play depicts the fate of women in the latest interpretation. The main heroine, Maria, made a mistake in her choice, and her choice leads her to deep moral and physical suffering. Therefore, she remembers her first love and grabs for it “even if just in a letter, as a saving straw.” The heroine personifies the struggle between an indifferent, detached “aesthetic” and a “living person” with feelings and emotions.
