"I know that many will find this story immoral and indecent

Nevertheless, from the bottom of my heart I dedicate it to mothers and young people."

-AK

The story of Alexander Kuprin "The Pit" enjoyed a frenzied popularity. To make heroines of women of the ancient profession, to tell their real and such human stories was an unheard-of freedom, even impudence.
Kuprin was not trying to preach feminism, prostitution or debauchery - he called for humanity. Each of the heroines fell into a brothel for various reasons, but not one of them wanted such a fate. And by all accounts the girls were in "The Pit" because of human cruelty and indifference.
As in another performance of the Podol Theater "The Lower Depths" by M. Gorky, there is a call to faith, hope and love that can change not only you, but the whole world.

Faith in yourself is what the main heroine Tamara (Dasha Malakhova) professes. Her intelligence, impudence, and strength allow her to walk with her head held high, even in a house where love has become a profession.
Zhenya, the heroine of Anna Salivanchuk, hopes that the world will change, and she will find a place in it.
Love opened up to Lyuba (Anna Tambova) by chance, the girl gave herself up to this impulse completely and... became disillusioned, faced with human indifference.
Today Andreevsky Descent is famous for its architectural monuments, but   in the middle of the 19th century it was famous for its brothels, and regardless of the fact that this time has long since passed, it never hurts to learn compassion.  The kindness we do for those around us will absolutely return.
