GOT TO BE FREE

The Theater on Podil presents the rock musical “Got to Be Free”.

Today, GOT TO BE FREE is 12 stories based on real-life events that recently took place here in Kyiv.

Yes, it really happened with us: Love, Dignity, Struggle, Revolution. And also: War, Volunteers, Unity, Hope.

The live sound of the orchestra and rock band, modern choreography and bright special effects turn historical events into a true Broadway show.

The musical was presented at several venues in Kyiv and Lviv for a narrow audience, and in September 2018 it was the headliner of the  largest-scale festival of Ukrainian culture in Canada, the Bloor West Village Toronto Ukrainian Festival.

The show is constantly evolving and transforming – from rock club to open air show. Each time, we find the right means of expression and effects to inspire and transfer the thoughts of the viewer in those times. Today, in the theatrical version, original elements from world classics Taras Shevchenko and William Shakespeare,  the latest from Sergii Zhadan and the modernized dance “Arkan” are added.
