GOT TO BE FREE

There`s a revolution in the networks,

on the streets and in people`s minds.

There`s a revolution, — tearing off the roof,

my nation overcoming its fear.

Volodymyr Lavrenchuk,

Got to Be Free

Vitaly Malakhov about the rock musical: “Ukrainian theater is musical-dramatic in nature. Today, our task is to rethink the historical events, turn them into a work of art to continue this tradition. GOT TO BE FREE is an almanac-reflection that consists of novels that tell about the events of the Maidan. These are the stories about how Maidan made society from a crowd, brought together completely different peopleple, and we have changed. For the first time, Ukrainians had to express their opinions and choose their side”.

Each story – is a recollection of an internal impulse for freedom, a struggle for dignity, resistance, war, dreams of a society of the future and love. An important element of the action is its interactivity. The audience becomes a part of the scene, recalling events that have been reflected forever in our memory.

Got To Be Free is the live sound of the orchestra and rock band, modern choreography and bright special effects that turn the events of Maidan into a real Hollywood show.

The play involves an orchestra, rock band and ballet.

The musical was presented at several venues in Kyiv and L’viv for a narrow audience, and in September 2018 was the headliner of the largest-scale festival of Ukrainian culture at Bloor West Village Toronto Ukrainian Festival.
